You might be just starting out. You might have a guitar that has been living in a case for years. You might be able to play and still feel stuck on the same few songs.
If any of that is you, this is an approach that actually works.
What we do not do: group classes, exam factories, or making you grind through things you'll never play.

What to expect from your first lesson
You arrive. We find out what you want to sound like. Then we work on that, at the level you are actually at.
By the end of the first lesson you will know where you are on the instrument, the next thing worth practising, and how to practise it so it sticks.
Most people leave able to play more of a real song than they expected.
When the thing we work on is actually the thing you want to play, the instrument comes out of the case during the week.

Why one hour?
Thirty-minute lessons look cheaper on paper. In practice you lose the first few minutes settling in and the last few packing up, so the useful teaching time shrinks fast. An hour gives enough room to recap, cover something new properly, and leave with it starting to stick.
We have always worked this way. Shorter slots rarely deliver the value they appear to offer. We stay with one hour (or longer when it suits) so the time is actually useful.

A few straight answers
Do I need to be able to play already?No.Do I need my own guitar or bass?Helpful, but not essential for the first lesson. Ask when you book.How often are lessons?Weekly or fortnightly. Monthly is too sparse for real progress, so we don't offer it.Is this grades?Only if you want that. Most people want songs, enjoyment, and to stop getting stuck.Will I always have the same tutor?Yes, wherever possible. Continuity matters.Do you have DBS checks? Is there any physical contact in lessons?Yes. All our tutors are DBS checked. Lessons don’t need any physical contact. The most you’ll see is the occasional fist bump or high five.How much do I need to practise?The more you play between lessons, the faster it moves. We treat it as play rather than homework.Can a parent sit in?Ideally not. Students usually progress better without an audience. You are welcome at the end of the session to see what they have done.What if I miss a lesson?We will try to reschedule if we can find a space. A week’s notice makes it far more likely.Online lessons?Not currently. We prefer in person, as this works best.Why no social media or phone?Less spammin’. More jammin’. Email or the booking link is the cleanest way to reach us.
